You may have seen HACSU pharmacists in the news recently speaking up about the ongoing crisis of extreme vacancies in Pharmacy and the concerning fact that your wages are so far behind that we can’t recruit to the vacancies or retain the staff that we have.
Following on from statements made by our State Secretary Robbie Moore and our delegates, we secured meetings to discuss a plan with managers, aiming to work together to elevate the situation in Pharmacy, ensuring that vacancies can be filled and workload is manageable, allowing workers to focus on the important work of caring for the patients.
We’re now happy to announce that at our Health Debate on Wednesday evening, the current Health Minister agreed that they would be implementing a $10,000 market allowance for both new and current pharmacists within the THS.
We have since secured commitments from the other major parties to ensure that this vital market allowance is put in place as soon as possible after caretaker provisions have ended.
This is a big win for union members – well done for standing up and raising your voices against the injustice of your wages in comparison to the mainland. Together, we've made a real difference in improving conditions for Pharmacy workers.
