On the back of members' great action the other week protesting at the Executive Building, workers forced the negotiators back to the table for brief meetings for some of the agreements – but they then turned around and cancelled the next PSUWA meeting.
This is ridiculous! They are claiming that this is so the next meeting we hold gives you a wage offer, but wages aren’t the only thing that needs to be addressed. There is a mountain of conditions matters that still need to be discussed and worked through from your log of claims which the government hasn’t even addressed yet.
Some of your colleagues were also scheduled to present to the Department to provide insight into how bad some of the situations you face really are, but since that meeting was cancelled, they'll now need to find a new time to do this around their patient care duties.
Given the government's clear failure to prioritise workers while they continue to support their co-workers and put their patients and the community first, we will be moving to mass member meetings to discuss industrial action across the public service.
Keep your eyes open for our communications organising meetings near you shortly. If you have ideas for industrial action, please let your delegates know or send them through to us.
The government has made it clear: we all need to stand up for the community to ensure everyone is looked after!
