Late last week I wrote to the newly recommissioned Premier, Jeremy Rockliff, to say enough is enough and that we need an offer in relation to wages and conditions for Public Sector Agreements.
The reality is that your agreement expired on 30 June. We served your log of claims in early April, and you should have received an offer by now.
I knew he would use the election as an excuse, so I told him he could have easily put an offer to you before going to the Governor to ask for an election. I’ve called for a meeting with him this week so that we can get in and resolve this as it’s anyone’s guess if he will remain Premier after Tuesday next week when Parliament resumes.
I haven’t received a reply from him yet, but we will keep holding him or a new Premier to account as December (when your next pay rise is due) will creep up on us if we don’t push them to do something. In the event that we don’t get an offer, or if we do and it’s not fair or reasonable, we have started to plan for a campaign that will also involve potential industrial action.
Your delegates are meeting over the next few weeks to finalise a campaign plan, and following that, we will hold membership meetings across the state. We are also working with other public sector unions to stand together to make sure you get a decent wages and conditions offer.
