St Marys Hospital workers to walk off the job as industrial action enters third week

HACSU members at St Marys Hospital are on their third consecutive week of industrial action, standing united in their fight for fair and sustainable working conditions.

Despite years of dedication and professionalism, these vital health workers have continued to endure unsafe workloads, chronic understaffing, and a work environment that has pushed them to breaking point. The lack of meaningful action by the Liberal government to address ongoing concerns has only deepened the crisis and shattered the trust and goodwill of workers.

The workers’ message is clear: Enough is enough!

Quotes attributed to HACSU State Secretary Robbie Moore:

“For too long, our members have gone above and beyond – not just out of their sense of duty, but out of care for their patients and community. But goodwill alone doesn’t keep people safe. It doesn’t heal fatigue. It doesn’t fix broken systems.”

“This fight is not just about better conditions for staff – it’s about the future of quality healthcare in our region. When our workers are burnt out, our entire community feels the impact. We are standing strong, and we will not back down.”

To highlight their ongoing struggle and call for immediate action, workers will walk off the job for one hour at 1pm today (Friday 11 April).

HACSU is calling on the local community, family, and friends to stand in solidarity with the St Marys Hospital workers as they escalate their action.
