Staff room use during accreditation.

After staff were shut out of the staff room at Yaraandoo during a recent accreditation visit we wrote to Judy to say staff realise accreditors need to be put somewhere during their visits, but for workers to be left with nowhere to go on breaks and unable to access their lockers which had their morning tea, lunch and phones in them is unacceptable.

We also asked her to confirm this was a one-off occurrence and that in future accreditors will be put somewhere else so the lockers and staff room will be accessible to staff at break times, here’s Judy’s reply:

“As you are aware room occupancy has been restricted due to COVID19 distancing requirement. Therefore, it was necessary for the Yaraandoo staff team room to be utilised to hold a short meeting with the accreditation team. During this period the room was not locked, and staff could access their food and drinks if they wished. Although the room was being used for an interview, the room was not at its capacity therefore staff had access to the staff room as required. I apologise for this inconvenience, during this unforeseen circumstance.”

As per Judy’s response, if this happens again on future accreditation visits, staff should feel free to enter in break times – after all, it’s their break time and should be able to access lockers and meals.
