You would be forgiven for thinking your bank balances are a little lighter than you might have expected, given the Federal Government’s aged care workforce bonus announced months ago but not delivered. After all, up to $400 was on offer for eligible employees who were employed as of 28 February, with another instalment due for those who will be around come 28 April.
Despite employers being able to apply for the payment from 1 March and the government stating that “employers are encouraged to pay the bonus at the time they lodge the application”, many aged care workers haven’t seen the money in their accounts.
In true Scott Morrison style, this was all announcement and little substance yet again, with very few applications being processed by the government to date. But we’ve also heard about some employers dragging their feet and not even applying yet at all. This isn’t on.
If you are eligible but haven’t heard anything from work, let us know ASAP so we can follow up with the boss and start getting the taps flowing.
