Uniting AgeWell's offer an insult

This is one of the worst offers we have ever seen.

With negotiations for your new agreement set to start on Friday, we’ve received an offer from Uniting AgeWell.

The so-called “offer” slashes your wages and conditions and is an insult to hard-working and dedicated staff like you. You’d be right to be outraged at what they have sent through.

With increases to the cost of living going up daily and inflation passing 8%, an offer of 1.5% in October and very small amounts afterwards would probably take your already basic wages down to below the legal minimum as they will not keep up with annual award rate increases.

Coming just as the Fair Work Commission has handed down an interim decision to increase wages by 15% for aged care workers, this offer shows UAW are totally out of touch and have no respect for the workers.

To make matters worse, UAW can’t help themselves – they are also attempting again, to slash your paid meal breaks despite the fact you stopped them from doing this less than 12 months ago.

This is one of the worst offers we have ever seen.

Your HACSU negotiating team will make it clear that this offer is unacceptable and that you will not put up with this.

Let’s hope this is just a stunt at the beginning of bargaining and that on Friday they will wake up and make a genuine offer that actually affords you the respect you deserve.

We will update you after the meeting on Friday. If you have any questions in the meantime, please contact HACSUassist on 1300 880 032.
