Today we spoke with UAW about some of our initial concerns regarding the roster restructure.
While they are keen for things to get moving in time for Christmas they agreed they were now willing to be flexible with the 30 November start date if some members were running into particular issues that needed more time to be worked through.
It’s important you make your concerns known as early as possible so we can try and address them.
It’s also important to remember a few key rights you have.
Under Clause 43.2 of your agreement part time employees have a right to a guaranteed regular pattern of work which sets out the number of hours to be worked each week, the days of the week on which the employee will work, and the starting and finishing times each day. This is to be agreed to in writing and can be varied by agreement.
Also, if you are in the position where you might be losing permanent hours – which they say is a rarity – then you shouldn’t just agree to that. Get in touch with us first. But once you sign up to vary your contract, it’s often impossible to unscramble the egg.
