Umina Park: Training while on shift

We’ve heard from some frustrated members at Umina Park.

They've been told to complete mandatory training whilst on shift, and their normal workload is already stressful enough, so we wrote to Ian and asked if training could be done before or after a shift, in paid time, instead.

After chasing him up over a week or so, we finally spoke to him today.

Ian told us there is time to complete the training while on shift and that 'staff know this', but he also said 'if anyone is having any trouble completing it they should come and see me.'

Our advice to anyone having trouble getting training done while on shift is to go and knock on Ian’s door to discuss it with him – and keep knocking until satisfied with his response or until some help getting the training done is provided.

If nobody knocks, he'll assume everything is okay and that everyone has the time to complete it while on shift.
