We’ve written to UAW management today about the continued short staffing issue at the Village. We also raised the totally unacceptable direction that only 2 staff at a time are allowed in your huge lunchroom, which means you will likely go outside in the middle of a cold winter spell to take your well-deserved meal or hydration breaks.

We told UAW management that workers who are run off their feet because of short staffing and not allowed to take water bottles onto the floor with them will no longer stand by this ridiculous direction. Although there are COVID concerns and it might not be ideal for too many people to be in a room at once, going outside in the middle of winter to take breaks also risks workers’ health.

We have called on UAW to increase the number of staff allowed in the lunchroom or create other places for workers to take their breaks and told them several staff rooms or staggering the breaks might help. We’ve also asked for answers to the continual short staffing issues at the Village.
