We'vewritten to UAW over a member contacting us from the Village distressed about short staffing, excessive workload and the disappointing 11 March memo.
The memo said, “I appreciate that we have been short staffed on many occasions however this should not reflect on the care we give our residents”.
It seems you’re expected to give a first-class service with or without the appropriate number of staff to be able to do so.
The memo offered no suggestions on how those who do turn up are to juggle tasks and give residents the best possible care when shifts are continually short staffed, so we’ve asked for an explanation on how staff are to do this.
We reminded UAW of their duty of care obligation to provide a safe place for residents to live as well as a safe workplace for staff - it appears from the memo that UAW are doing neither.
