You may have seen that UAW’s duplicitous agreement vote has been scrapped. It’s a massive win for workers that shows the power we have when we stand together against dodgy employers.
Today we met with UAW and it was disappointing, they wouldn’t even respond to the issues that we outlined, especially when we asked questions about what HACSU’s 15% work value case wage increases will mean for your agreement and about your paid meal breaks.
However, they have committed to get back to us very soon after we demanded another meeting with real responses – but we won’t hold our breath about that.
While we wait for them to come back to the table, we’re continuing with our vote to start protected industrial action to keep up the fight for better wages and conditions for workers.
Right now, it’s important to put as much pressure on UAW as possible to ensure we stop their attacks on workers. So, it’s vital that you vote YES in our protected industrial action ballot to help ensure you have the right to take action – otherwise you won’t have your voice heard.
To have your say you’ll need to vote by Thursday 9 March at 3pm. You should’ve received a text or email from CiVS this week with instructions on how to vote.
If you have not yet received information from CiVS about voting, please call HACSUassist on 1300 880 032 as soon as possible.
We’ll be in touch to update you once the ballot has closed with the results, but in the meantime please make sure you remind your colleagues to vote YES for industrial action too.
