We met with the Department recently and they told us they’ll be moving away from using meal tickets/vouchers and paying a meal allowance instead. The Department also said they’ll be in touch soon with relevant workers to let them know more about these changes and when it will come into effect.
We’re still waiting on further details about this plan, but we know in the past meal allowances haven’t always been paid based on the Award like they should be. As things progress, we’ll be putting pressure on the Department to make sure they pay these allowances fairly to everyone.
