Some sort of normality to return.

With the announcement that COVID-19 restrictions are to be eased we’ll start to see things return to some sort of normality, but as the number of people in public gatherings increases so does the chance of a secondary outbreak so we all need to remain vigilant.

Now the hospital’s moving into more permanent arrangements to counter the possibility of a secondary outbreak some members may have had variations to their roles and conditions put to them, but if changes are of a major nature THS must first go through the consultation process.

Quite often in these situations THS will sell it as a good change, highlighting any pros while dimming down any cons and alluding to a better deal for workers, but in most cases it ends up in favour of the employer.

Members need their union involved to ensure they get a true idea of the potential fallouts from proposed changes, so if anyone or their section has been approached to vary their pre-pandemic roles please let us know – we’re here to assist members throughout the process from start to finish.

As restrictions ease we’ll start returning for regular visits starting Monday June 29 and, while we’ll be somewhat restricted from entering clinical areas due to potential cross-contamination issues for a time, we will be in common areas such as the cafeteria etc.

We hope member come and say hi because we’d like to hear everyone's feelings on how the THS handled the pandemic.

Keep up the good work and stay safe,
