The SCC situation gets even worse

We’re considering industrial action.

Just as we thought it couldn’t get any worse at SCC, it has.

n the latest development of this horror show, SCC have changed their position once again and now say that not only will you lose your paid meal breaks, you'll have to work longer – and they will most probably change all your rosters.

SCC representatives admitted that they can’t reduce your hours by taking away your paid meal breaks, but instead they’ll make you work extra time. When we pointed out this would not save them any money, they said but they can save money by changing all your rosters.

SCC are treating you with total contempt by putting this on the table at this point and you’d be right to be furious.

Your bargaining representatives feel it’s time we bring this to a head to stop them treating you like this.

In the week beginning 8 November, we’ll be holding member meetings state-wide to talk about this debacle and decide on whether to proceed to industrial action.

Enough is enough. We should now stand together and force SCC to back down on this outrageous attack on your working conditions.

To add insult to injury, they’ve barely moved on your wages offer. The wage offer of just 2% this year, 1.75% next and then only 1.5% the following year (not including the backpay you are owed) is a joke. It’s a wage cut in real terms when compared to the increases to your rent, mortgage, groceries etc and it’s totally disrespectful to the work you do.

We will let you know the dates and times of upcoming meetings soon, but if you have any questions in the interim, please give us a call on 1300 880 032.
