Since our last update about Southern Cross Care taking away your right to purchased leave, a right enshrined in your agreement, they’ve continued to bury their heads in the sand.
They haven’t explained themselves. They haven’t issued a new policy. They have pretended it’s not an issue.
So they’ve left us with no choice but to take it to the umpire and we now have a date confirmed for our first session at Fair Work Australia to try to get it restored.
We told SCC they can’t have it both ways. Either you have the right or you don’t. It can’t be subject to a policy that doesn’t exist yet. It doesn’t make any sense – just like dreaming up a draft enterprise agreement that cuts wages up to $5000 and thinking it’d have a chance of being accepted by workers.
