Following the wage offer we received from the government last Friday, we wrote to the Premier seeking an urgent meeting as we considered the offer was below our members’ expectations.

Last night we were invited to a meeting with the head of the state service at 1pm today to discuss the government’s offer. That has just occurred, and I wanted to let you know what happened as soon as I could.

It was a productive meeting and we’re getting together again first thing tomorrow morning to continue the conversation. We don’t know exactly where these discussions will end up, but we think it’s sensible to see if we can reach agreement before we come back to you with anything for you to consider.

We’ll update you after tomorrow’s meeting – hopefully we’ll have something better than what was put on the table last week!
