We met with departmental officials today to discuss the offer that the Premier made to health workers earlier this week.
Despite what you may have heard in the media, there are still a lot of questions to be answered before we can make any agreement regarding the $2000 payment to frontline health workers.
We know that staff need to be fully informed before accepting any offer. We know that administrative and other support workers deserve an allowance payment just as much as anyone else does, and we know that workers outside of hospitals have been dealing with COVID too.
We need to find out what this means for our proposed recruitment and retention bonus in our bargaining claims and what it means if the hospital or health facility you work at moves to escalation level 3 or above in the future.
We’ll be asking for answers from the Department, and we’ll be out to talk to you about it too.
