After several workers in the north west let us know they’ve worked 9-hour sleepover shifts, we’ve written to St Michaels telling them this is not allowed under your agreement, which specifies sleepovers are eight-hour shifts.
Your CEO, Mike Thomas, has replied and said they’ll backpay affected current and former staff by COB on 20 April. Here’s Mike’s response and the time frames of the investigation:
"I wish to confirm that St Michael’s has commenced an investigation into the matter and wish to advise the following timeframes:
Our investigation and any applicable payment of back pay will include both current and former employees.
I would like to reiterate that St Michael’s appreciates the seriousness of this matter."
We’ll keep an eye on the issue and make sure St Michaels sticks to their timeframes for back paying the money owed to workers.
