St Michaels dispute

Proposed on-call arrangements.

We wrote to management today notifying them of a formal dispute over the proposed implementation of an on-call shift.

John responded and said that in principle we're correct in that they failed to consult with HACSU but they were merely running an idea past staff - but 'running an idea'  doesn't mean that they don't have to consult with staff and their union.

We understand some staff have concerns about the old on-call practice and now St Michaels is trying to implement a new way of performing on-call - the staff agreement doesn’t have any specific provisions for on-call, and we think there needs to be a broader investigation into where this whole thing stands.

As we’re going into bat for HACSU members on this, any staff who aren’t members yet but want us to act on their behalf need to get on board now.

We'll do a zoom meeting with members later in the week to chat about what’s going on.

Remember, we want to ensure St Michaels complies with the agreement rather than forcing staff to do something that isn’t covered under their agreement.
