As you know, Healthscope announced this morning that they have made the decision to shut down St Helen’s Private Hospital as of 23 June.
We’re told that Healthscope should notify you about upcoming one-on-one meetings in the coming days. HACSU is here to help you through this and we can attend a meeting with you to ensure you get what you’re entitled to and that your employer follows the correct process.
Please get in touch to request for a HACSU organiser to attend your meeting with you.
As to Healthscope’s decision, we believe it is completely unconscionable. It’s simply outrageous for Healthscope to make this announcement and put such a short timeframe on it when they have patients that need to be transferred to other services, and workers have got bills to pay.
Even more outrageous is that it’s just come to light today that Healthscope have been in talks with the government about this for some time. And yet, your employer didn’t take the opportunity to speak to workers about any impact on your future, or how it would affect you and your patients.
Frankly it’s disgusting to see them take such an approach when vital services like the Mother Baby Unit and Mental Health wards are on the line. It’s another case of Healthscope and their mainland bosses putting profits first instead of caring about what happens to workers – not to mention the broader community.
We’ll be here to support members over the coming months. Please give us a call on 1300 880 032 if you have any questions or want a HACSU organiser to attend your meeting with you.
