A number of members have raised issues about attacks from a resident and their concerns about working there.
Mark Deverell has contacted us and said that, following HACSU’s inquiries, St Giles has put a Behaviour Support Practitioner into the house to look at the particular resident and how interactions with all staff and residents occur, and they'll be looking at effective communication strategies and to ensure staff are using Key Word signs as well as his communication device.
We can’t stress enough that staff must document any time they use these methods and they don’t work, and any other behavioural issues, as if it isn’t documented then St Giles will blame workers for not using them.
If changes are needed, and need to be presented to NDIS, then it needs to be documented properly.
If any member needs more info, or has any other concerns about anything in the workplace, please contact us
