We’re disappointed to see management is still treating staff with contempt.
We started bargaining early last year by serving Southern Cross Care with your log of claims but since then, despite many meetings, they’ve continually refused to respond to these very reasonable claims for better wages and conditions - this is not good-faith negotiation.
Just before the latest meeting, after we explained we'd be lodging a dispute with the Fair Work Commission over SCC’s behaviour, we finally did get a response: they rejected just about everything you asked for.
SCC didn’t even have the decency to advise what they’re offering in terms of a pay increase because, apparently, 12 months just isn’t enough time to come up with a number - remember, if bargaining had gone smoothly you would've received a pay increase at the start of this month.
Unfortunately, we’re getting to the stage where we need to talk about what actions you and your colleagues will need to take to get management to treat you with the respect you deserve and make you an acceptable offer for your wages and conditions.
We have another negotiation meeting scheduled for 10 February, so we want to use the next few weeks to get your thoughts on how you’re being treated and what we’re going to do next.
In the coming weeks, we’ll be calling our members and visiting workplaces to hear your views on what should be done if management keep treating you like this, so keep an eye out for us.
