Has SECC told you a furphy?

We were aware that South Eastern Community Care had told staff wrongly that if you’ve been contacted by Tas Health and identified as a close contact who shares a home with a COVID-19 positive person you must isolate for a total of 14 days.

This does not correspond with the current advice on the Public Health website, which requires 7 days of quarantine for close contacts.

After we contacted your employer and asked for an explanation, they’ve emailed staff the updated request in line with the Public Health advice.

So if you’ve been requested to quarantine as a close contact, and you’ve had your leave accruals debited more than 7 days as what TAS Health stipulates, we'd like to hear from you.

It’s more important now than ever to have your protection at work, so if any of your colleagues aren't yet HACSU members, now is the time to encourage them to join the union for community and disability workers.

For more information about this or any other industrial matter, members should contact HACSUassist on 1300 880 032 or email assist@hacsu.org.au or complete our online contact form
