Southern Cross Care have come back swinging and as hostile as ever.

Southern Cross Care have come back swinging and as hostile as ever: they’ve now told us they’ve arranged a vote on their awful draft agreement, although we're far from reaching agreement at the bargaining table.

No matter what we throw at them, SCC have refused to backpedal on their plans to cut your wages, paid meal breaks and working conditions.

The wage increases offered in the agreement are an insult to your hard work and dedication – and what’s more, they result in a real wage cut.

SCC are offering you wage “increases” of 2% this year, 1.75% next year and 1.5% the year after. But the cost of living has gone up by 3%. If your wages aren’t increasing by just as much as the cost of things like rent, mortgages, groceries and petrol, that’s just a pay cut in disguise.

Southern Cross are keeping us in the dark about how the vote will happen. All we know is that Vero will be doing it from Friday 3 December. We don’t know how long you’ll have to vote, how voting will be done, or how anyone can ensure that the process is fair and transparent.

We will keep chasing more information, but we need you to get ready to make a stand. Your care is worth more than this. You do not deserve a pay cut. Aged care workers should be earning more, not less. We need everyone to collectively vote NO to this unfair agreement.

Your delegates and HACSU organisers will be visiting workplaces over the next week to talk to you about what SCC are trying to do.

We'll update you when we learn more, but please give us a call if you have any questions.
