SCC Servery cuts

We’re in dispute.

We’ve written to the CEO about the current attempt by Southern Cross Care to implement unsafe and neglectful cuts to Servery services at Rosary Gardens, Sandown Village, Guilford Young and Fairway Rise aged care facilities.

Members already have severe workload issues, regularly and systematically working outside the hours they’re paid for to carry out their required duties, and the proposed cuts are unworkable as there’s no way others can take on extra duties due to the excessive workloads for all SCC workers.

HACSU formally raised these concerns with SCC at a meeting two weeks ago, but the dispute still isn’t resolved, and we haven’t had any updates from them since.

HACSU believes Southern Cross Care are breaching two clauses of your agreement and, given these breaches and that the proposed change is unsafe for staff and residents, we’ve requested they remove the proposed rosters as a matter of urgency. Click here to see our letter to them.

If SCC refuses to agree to this reasonable request, we’ll be making an application to the Fair Work Commission to ensure these agreement breaches are addressed.

Please remember if you are given a new contract and don’t agree to the changes, do not sign it, and contact us immediately!

If you know anyone who may be impacted but isn’t yet a HACSU member, now’s the time to encourage them to join.
