PIA begins Friday

We’ll start protected industrial action at Southern Cross Care from 7am tomorrow, Friday 4 March.

We’ve consulted with delegates and activists and, based on their feedback, we’ll begin with five low-level bans. From 4 March, HACSU members at SCC will:

  • Distribute information to residents, the public and the media about the reasons for industrial action.
  • Commence wearing campaign material and badges while at the workplace.
  • Take all breaks in full and on time.
  • Cease completing and submitting paperwork or electronic forms related to the Aged Care Funding Instrument (ACFI).
  • Stop performing any duties not stated in the employee’s relevant position description.

The purpose of industrial action is to urge SCC to take your concerns seriously and stop their attempts to cut your working conditions, including paid meal breaks, and to give you a decent wage increase.

We’ll be visiting all SCC staffrooms (the Lodge staffroom at the Rivulet) at 9.30am tomorrow to distribute the campaign materials, so pop into the staffroom to see us.

If any of your colleagues are not yet HACSU members, now is their chance to join the union for aged care workers and fight for a fair deal for everyone.

For more information about this or any other industrial matter, members should contact HACSUassist on 1300 880 032 or email assist@hacsu.org.au or complete our online contact form
