HACSU met with SCC management namely, the Executive Manager of Residential Care, the Chief Operating Officer and the Operations Manager Residential (Glenara Lakes) earlier this week to try and address several ongoing workplace issues at Glenara Lakes.
As previously agreed, SCC have started a roster review and asked employees to put their name down for extra shifts. The expression of interest process is about to wrap up – if you want more shifts but haven’t asked to be included, act quickly by dropping your request to the Manager of Operations Residential’s office at Glenara Lakes or send her an email.
SCC have also committed to converting casual workers to permanent part-time workers and employing additional staff if needed.
Let’s hope they keep their word and actually take action, so you won’t have to work significantly short-staffed when the roster review is finished in two weeks.
We also raised the issue that some workers at Glenara Lakes have picked up extra shifts but haven’t been paid for these shifts. SCC have agreed to look into this issue and rectify whatever is not working correctly.
Working understaffed and being paid incorrectly are not acceptable. We’ll push SCC to fix the issues as soon as possible. If you think things haven't improved or you’re not getting your work entitlements, please contact HACSUassist on 1300 880 032 for support.
Stay united and keep up the good work. If you know someone who is not a HACSU member yet, please encourage them to join.
