Fair Work called on to stop SCC from cutting kitchen hours

We applied to the Fair Work Commission yesterday to ask them to stop SCC from getting rid of staff in the kitchen at Fairway Rise, Sandown Village, Guilford Young Grove and Rosary Garden aged care facilities - sites that already have serious workload issues.

Because of understaffing, staff often can't give the residents all the care they need on time, and more cuts to hours would significantly worsen the situation and further compromise the services and care provided.

SCC said care and other staff or even residents can pick up duties currently completed by kitchen staff, which we know is impossible because other staff don't have the time to take on additional tasks - it appears they’re trying to divide staff in an attempt to push through the cuts.

We must stand together to stop this, and we need everyone to be involved.

Sharon and other HACSU organisers will be out on site this week and over the coming weeks to talk about this current crisis. If you have questions, please ask an organiser or your workplace delegate or call HACSUassist on 1300 880032.
