We need to hear from you

We met with the Fair Work Commission and SCC yesterday to discuss SCC’s proposed cuts in servery hours at Fairway Rise, Sandown Apartments, Guilford Young Grove and Rosary Gardens.

The FWC has asked HACSU to provide SCC with more information about why the cuts won’t work.

So we need your help – please tell us about your duties, how long it takes to complete each task on your shift, and why you believe the cuts won’t work. We need this vital information before COB Monday 17 January. If you’d like to help, just send your thoughts and answers to assist@hacsu.org.au.

We also raised the issue of who will be performing the duties that servery staff won’t be able to complete, and the FWC has directed SCC to provide HACSU with a document outlining who does what.

Again, it’s disappointing that SCC have not changed their position and are ignoring the safety of residents and staff. We all know cutting more hours will worsen your workloads and compromise residents’ care – that’s why you need to speak up for yourself, your residents and fellow workers.

Another FWC hearing is scheduled for Tuesday 25 January and we'll update you with the outcome after the meeting. If you have any questions, please call HACSUassist on 1300 880 032.
