While all workers at Southern Cross Care have been treated poorly in recent months, home care workers undoubtedly have had it the worst.
Whether it’s underpayments, broken shift agreements, missing pays or just plain old being forgotten about – the list of legitimate grievances is long.
One of the main reasons for this is that SCC think you are easily divided. Unlike residential workers, you rarely see your colleagues, and it’s hard to stand united when you are often busy on the road.
But a group of north west home care workers have said enough is enough and have taken their concerns to the SCC board.
This is no small achievement, especially given the coastal workers are more spread out than most.
They’ve made SCC listen, and the CEO will be travelling to Devonport to meet with them and hear them out.
We know other regions are experiencing the same issues as north west home care workers, so if you’ve had enough of being treated poorly, get in touch and let’s make sure home care won’t be left behind.
