Here’s a quick update on the broken shift situation.
CEO Robyn Boyd has chosen to ignore the issue of stand over tactics at Southern Cross Care that attempt to coerce you to sign broken shift agreements.
Given we’ve got no choice when the CEO wants to pretend the issue is going away, we’ve formally notified of a dispute, which means if they don’t sort this out ASAP, we may have to get Fair Work involved.
Asking people to sign is one thing but telling people they won’t meet their contracted hours is another. It’s not on and we won’t accept it.
For now, the advice is still the same – you don’t have to sign, and they can’t remove your contracted hours for not signing.
If you get pushed by your manager, send us a copy of the messages, and tell them HACSU has said the matter is in dispute.
We hope SCC see the reason, but given recent conduct, it looks like we may have to force the point.
