We’ve had an influx of calls about a message sent to SCC community workers today saying that if you haven't signed the broken shift agreement starting Monday 29th you'll only be allowed to work 1 shift per day.
Sadly, this approach is just the kind of behaviour we've come to expect from SCC, but that doesn’t mean you have to agree.
One shift a day - so getting paid 8 hours for your day - is one thing, but one shift meaning one client shift is a whole different thing and not on.
If you have contracted hours, the organisation has to pay them, and failure to sign an optional agreement is not enough for them to pretend your contracted hours don’t exist.
If you're casual it does make things more difficult but it still doesn’t excuse such behaviour.
We’ve contacted the CEO to tell her this and asked her to to confirm exactly what they're getting at and issue a clarifying message.
