New bans next week

We started protected industrial action last week - Week 1 -and want to update everyone.

Week 1 bans:

  • Distribute information to residents, the public and the media about the reasons for industrial action
  • Commence wearing campaign material and badges while at the workplace
  • Take all breaks in full and on time
  • Cease completing and submitting paperwork or electronic forms related to the Aged Care Funding Instrument (ACFI)
  • Stop performing any duties not stated in the employee’s relevant position description

New bans - Week 2 - will be introduced and begin at 7am on Wednesday 16 March. These bans cannot start before that date. This means you will be doing 9 bans in total from next Wednesday.

Week 2 bans:

  • Cease delivering linen and any items to be laundered to the laundry
  • Cease collecting clean linen from the laundry and returning it to residents
  • Cease emptying rubbish bins in the kitchen
  • Cease vacuuming foyer areas and/or management offices

Remember the purpose of industrial action is to urge SCC to take your concerns seriously and stop their attempts to cut your working conditions, including paid meal breaks, and to give you a decent wage increase.

If any of your colleagues are not yet HACSU members, now is their chance to join the union for aged care workers and fight for a fair deal for everyone.

For more information about this or any other industrial matter, members should contact HACSUassist on 1300 880 032 or email assist@hacsu.org.au or complete our online contact form
