Your right to it is back on the table.

After Southern Cross basically tried to delete your purchased leave entitlement, saying it didn’t exist until there was a new policy (that they haven’t written), we applied to Fair Work to get the umpire involved.

By standing firm together, you have forced SCC to change their tune.

They’ve now provided us with a new policy, meaning purchased leave is back on the table.

When it comes to purchased leave agreements that existed prior to 9 June, these can be restated subject to the terms of the new policy -ie you’ll need to put in a new application first. SCC said that those who have agreements in place should receive a letter about this ASAP.

Well done for achieving this, but don’t forget this is just another example of SCC trying to take away your rights. If it weren’t for workers sticking together and standing up, they would have just continued to pretend your rights didn’t exist.

For those of you who applied for your leave earlier in the week and had it rejected, they said they are awaiting the final policy document to be stamped off as we speak, so keep your application at the ready and you should receive a letter about reinstatement shortly.
