RHH problems

A fancy building doesn’t hide them.

We may have a K Block, but it's far from complete.

Water issues still plague it and the THS band-aid solution was to make a hospital aide drag 7 slabs of bottled water up to each ward daily instead of just fixing the water - HACSU members have banded together and put a stop to this ridiculous situation by placing a ban on the task, as hospital aides have enough work to do on their wards without this being added to their task list.

For over two years food services staff have been told delivering food pods via the front of the hospital was a temporary solution that would be resolved in 6 months, and when that didn't happen they were given another excuse and again told it'd be fixed in 6 months.

The real story is that when K Block was designed about 10 years ago food was still prepared on-site, then when food services were moved to Cambridge no one told the planners - as a result the loading dock isn't fit for purpose and management are scrambling for a solution, so watch this space because food services workers will be meeting again soon to keep pushing for a way forward.

Many areas of the RHH remain a construction zone and while we're all pleased to see this bright and shiny new building there are issues under the surface that are yet to be resolved.
