Access to K Block wards and staff rooms continues to be an issue but THS senior management told us it’s resolved - nothing to see here, move on - which is like waving a red flag at a bull as we all know the issue certainly isn’t resolved.
The official version from management is: Step 1: ask your immediate manager to have your swipe pass activated for the particular K Block floor/ward. Step 2: the manager forwards the request to security to have it processed. Step 3: the swipe card is programmed, and you gain access. Sounds simple, if only wishing made it so.
Yesterday we were in the hallway of D Block discussing this very issue with a member when the manager of Security Services walked past, so we asked him directly.
It appears the issue is Step 3 in the process, when a card is programmed remotely it doesn’t always work, so we asked the obvious question, if we follow the process and do all the right things and the card still doesn’t work what’s the next step? He said the card can be individually programmed at the security office.
So, if you’ve talked to your manager but are still having access issues, report directly to the security office on the ground floor, just down the hallway from the café, and ask them to manually program the card.
