Management agree to a consultative process.

RHH management finally met with HACSU Medical Orderly representatives late yesterday to discuss the current dispute around their attempt to force you onto an unsafe and unfair roster.

As you’re aware, the unsafe roster patterns management are posting would have taken your days off, split your weekends and severely impacted not only your health and safety but also the safety of other staff, patients and the community.

Because you’ve chosen to stand up collectively for the safety of everyone, management have agreed to the following as a way forward:

  • A roster committee will be established urgently to start developing a new roster.
  • The committee will have 4 weeks to develop a new roster that addresses the safety and fairness concerns of the proposed roster.
  • The roster should be fair in its allocation of penalty shifts and deliver equity for staff.
  • Once the new roster is created, it will begin with 4 weeks’ notice.
  • The status quo will remain before the new roster takes place.

While there is still plenty of work to do, this is a fantastic development that will mean there will be proper consultation, and that you can have a say in your own roster. Congratulations to everyone involved in this huge step forward! We’ll keep you updated as this progresses.
