Negotiations for new agreement begin.

We met with Regis management today via video conference for the first negotiation meeting for the new staff agreement, and we tabled members' log of claims consisting of 20 items - a wish list - and set up a process for future negotiations.

Some of the major claims were a pay increase of 4.5%, a clause to address workload concerns, increased penalty rates, paid handover, pandemic leave, leave loading for all leave, 20 days of personal leave, increased travel allowance, additional pay points for ENs and 15 weeks of paid parental leave for all staff.

We’ve asked for a commitment that the new agreement won’t reduce any current conditions and entitlements, including PCT workers salary packaging allowances.

Regis thanked HACSU for its submissions to the Aged Care Royal Commission in support of better wages and conditions for aged care workers.

We’ve highlighted the fact that wages and conditions for aged care workers are inadequate and we need Regis to commit to improve them.

Regis have agreed to consider all log of claims items and committed to providing a draft document at the next meeting on 12 November. Meetings will occur every two weeks after that.
