NWRH cleaners stuck together & got outcomes

Many members contacted us concerned about wage inequity.

The difference between their wages and that of those contracted to conduct the deep cleans at the NWRH was clearly unfair, and we immediately raised it with the Director of Hospitals in the N/NW.

We used all the information members gave us to strongly put their case forward, and the Director conceded they were right and that they are a vital part in getting the hospital back to some sort of normality.

Because staff stuck together they'll now be brought in-line with Infection Control Cleaners throughout the state by way of the More Responsibility Duties Allowance.

After giving consideration to the arguments presented, the Director agreed to our requests and confirmed that while cleaners are performing the deep clean duties to recommission the hospital they'll be paid at the rate of HSO4.

This is good news and members can pat themselves on the back for sticking together- this is what gives us negotiating power as a union - and with that power we all get results.
