NWPH cleaners to remain in their own area

Members were concerned about being directed to clean across several areas of the hospital.

We wrote to management last week to pass on the message that working in just one area decreases the risk of re-contamination thus avoiding having to go through the whole cleaning process again unnecessarily.

Veronica has responded with the following:

"I have had a discussion with the cleaning staff team leader this morning and cleaning staff at NWPH are not being directed across different areas within the facility with in a shift. Currently the only wards open at NWPH are maternity and theatre, when the rest of the hospital is reopened cleaners will continue to be assigned to their ward areas and will not be expected to work outside their scope or across several areas of the hospital during a shift.

Our cleaners when they come in have been working in their normal area within the unit, i.e. the medical centre cleaner will continue to work in the medical centre and theatre cleaner will continue to work in theatre. There may be times a cleaner is asked to work in another area due to sick leave cover requirements."

Members taking the correct precautions and remaining in their own area where possible at this time will be key to preventing any further outbreaks so if anyone feels this still isn't happening please call us to chat about it.

In the meantime, continue to stay safe.
