Last week we had some important updates about the government’s offer for your replacement agreement. Many of you told us that the wage offer for the first year seems okay, but it doesn’t look very good after that.
You also told us you strongly believe that nurses and midwives should get double time on a Sunday like everyone else and that the multi-disciplinary allowance needs to be fixed once and for all, yet the government seems content to sit on their hands.
You told us loud and clear that you would take industrial action if there were no movement on the offer to address those critical issues.
Although the current wage offer might align with the national average, the cost of living in Tasmania is high and inflation is still at unprecedented levels. The government must consider these factors and ensure their offer is able to retain and recruit essential nursing staff for our health system.
We’ve written to the Department and highlighted where they need to improve the offer. We’ll give them a week or so to get back to us, and we’ll keep you updated.
In the meantime, make sure you’re talking to your workmates about what is important to you and what action you are willing to take if the offer is not improved.
The details of the offer have been in our last two updates, but please get in touch if you need any further information.
