Bans start tomorrow

Our planned escalation of industrial action is going ahead tomorrow after Southern Cross Care withdrew their ridiculous application to Fair Work over the weekend.

Their withdrawal proves that their claims that you would “pose an immediate and severe health risk to residents” were just a desperate attempt to threaten you to stop your lawful industrial action.

This now means that the following bans will start at 7am on Wednesday 16 March:

  • Cease delivering linen and any items to be laundered to the laundry
  • Cease collecting clean linen from the laundry and returning it to residents
  • Cease emptying rubbish bins in the kitchen
  • Cease vacuuming foyer areas and/or management offices

These extra bans are in addition to the bans currently in place. Your delegates will also be meeting tomorrow to talk about further escalation of bans and stop work meetings if management continue to ignore you.

Meanwhile, we need to get the word out about how workers are treated at SCC. Please share your stories here and keep an eye out on our Facebook page. The more support we get from the community, the more pressure we can exert on SCC.

What you are doing is having an impact, and if we keep standing together, we can stop SCC’s cuts to your take-home pay and working conditions and protect the residents you’re caring for.
