We know there have been a lot of changes being talked about at the Mersey at the moment as THS rolls out its plan to try and keep it as free of COVID-19 as possible.

We’ve also heard some concerns in particular about the impact of respiratory services being transferred to the NWRH. This comes on top of the PPE issues we are seeing throughout the health system.

Today we’ve written to and spoken with Anthony Hurst to work through some of these matters.

While we are still awaiting further detail there are some important points we wanted to let you know:

  • Any redeployments would start with those who have volunteered
  • Any changes will be mindful of those who have indicated they are immunocompromised
  • PPE stock is flowing into the service however they have depleted stocks here as elsewhere
  • No staff at the Mersey should have been informed that there will not be positions and that they will need to take leave
  • No 12 hour shifts compromising 8h paid and 4h toil have been offered

We’re working to make sure your safety remains paramount and that any concerns are addressed as quickly as possible. Thank you for all your vital work in protecting our community at this trying time.
