Where we’re at with bargaining.

As members know, we’ve been bargaining with management for both the nurses and non-nurses agreements for some time and had come to a bit of a stalemate.

HACSU bargaining representatives had told management that workers weren’t in favour of the removal of paid meal breaks for all staff (except for RNs) as proposed by management, nor would they support removing the meals breaks in future negotiations - we met with management again this week and reiterated that point.

Neither side would budge, so we all agreed that management would put the agreements out to vote so members can decide for themselves in an anonymous ballot.

Melaleuca management said they’ll get the draft agreements to HACSU, hopefully by the end of this week, and then they intend to put them out to vote sometime early in December.

We’ll pop by the staff room in coming weeks to discuss the process with members further, so keep an eye out.
