Meercroft catering staff asked us to look into whether they can wear items that signify they are married, such as a wedding band, a nose ring or other jewellery, so I asked Wendy to clarify what is allowed and what isn’t.
That staff are able to wear wedding bands in the kitchen but the ring cannot have stones due to the infection control risk.
In regard to nose rings the Uniform policy has been updated and staff are able to wear a small clear stud only, no bars or sleepers, this has been updated so it is equitable for all staff.
Wendy also said that the new uniform policy is still in the draft stage for now but should be completed and sent to workers this week. If you have any issues or input about the uniform policy, you should let Wendy know before it’s finalised.
It’s harder to adjust policies when they come into effect, so now is the chance to have your say on your uniform policy.
