After hearing that Glenhaven had told workers to supply their own masks, we spoke with Tony to clarify if this was the case.
Tony said that was certainly not the intention of his communication to workers and that it was meant to state that if you’d prefer to wear your own mask (eg a cotton one) then Glenhaven is happy for you to do that, but Glenhaven also have the hospital grade ones on hand if staff ask for them.
He later wrote to say that upon reading back through the emails, he agreed it could have been misconstrued that staff were meant to supply their own masks, and we reminded him that workers should not have to ask for PPE to be supplied and that Glenhaven should have whatever supply is needed on hand.
In short, if you want to wear your own mask, you can – and if you don’t want to bring your own and there are none on hand in your work area, please request that Glenhaven supply masks ASAP.
Remember, it is always up to your place of work to supply you with a safe workplace and all the equipment and tools you need to stay safe in that environment.
