Your thoughts on short staffing?

Karingal seems to be experiencing an ongoing short staffing issue that is leaving staff exhausted.

While we’ve raised this issue in the past with Trent, the Facility Manager, we touched base with him again to see what he'd been working on since the last time we chatted.

Trent said no shift has been left unfilled intentionally and that attempts are always made to backfill shifts, but he agreed it is an ongoing challenge and he's attempting to tackle it via various management methods.

Trent also said Baptcare are actively trying to recruit - for example, along with the new staff that have already been on site recently, four more ECAs are being inducted this coming week.

Though there appears to be no quick fix for short staffing, Trent said he's more than happy to work with both staff and HACSU on other initiatives to come up with a solution to workload problems and that he welcomes any feedback on the matter.

You and your colleagues work on the floor on a daily basis and might have some creative ideas on addressing the problem, if so, you can take Trent up on his offer and let him know if you come up with something.

Maybe it will be your idea that helps you and your co-workers!
