Short staffing happening too much?

We’ve heard from several workers at Karingal that they're working short staffed on a consistent basis and that the stress levels are getting to breaking point for some staff.

We contacted Facility Manager Trent Baxter about the levels of stress and exhaustion workers are experiencing and told him staff are now being abused by residents for not being able to get to call bells quickly enough and conveyed the growing concerns that resident care is being compromised due to short-staffing.

We’ve asked Trent to look into why this keeps happening and to come up with a solution to.

Until we hear back from him, and we can discuss moving forward, our advice is to continue to document any shifts that are worked short-staffed and also to put in a risk assessment form as this is a potential work health and safety issue.
