We wrote to SCC management last week about a workload grievance at Mt Esk, the continual occurrence of workers working short on shift, and the impact that this has on residents and staff.
We initially asked them to reply by the close of business last Tuesday but SCC management asked for an extension till Friday, which we agreed to in good faith, but in typical SCC style they failed to do that and haven’t yet given us any response.
This just shows SCC management’s total disrespect and contempt when workers raise legitimate workplace safety concerns.
We understand that you’re still working short and are sometimes asked to swap shifts or extend work hours, and sometimes the shift you move from is not replaced. It’s a bit like moving the chairs on the Titanic.
We'll be chasing this up today and will update you as soon as we get a reply.
In the meantime, please continue to raise your workload issues with your manager through the SCC continuous improvement procedure.
